These North Star casement windows are a replacement window custom-built for each opening.  The hickory exterior is a perfect color match for the siding and roofing also installed by us.  The round top window is factory mulled to the picture window below.  All of these windows carry the North Star Lifetime warranty.

  • 8” Siding with Shake and Stone Veneer

This lake front cottage needed a look worth the location.  Located right on Lake Michigan in Shelby, this project was a treat for our crews to do.  Covered in wood siding on every wall, we replaced many of it with vinyl.  The majority of the house is covered in a red 8” vinyl siding.  The gables are covered with a vinyl shake siding that contrasts perfectly with the red.  On the very bottom level and on the rear of the house we installed a stone veneer to give the home an even more dramatic look than the red siding.  This cottage is the envy of the block now!

  • Blue Steel Siding

This gambrel style home and garage were looking for an update.  The family chose to cover the house in a blue steel siding, as opposed to vinyl siding.  Steel siding offers more durability as well as longevity.  Steel siding has the appearance of vinyl siding, but has a longer warranty than some vinyl sidings.  On the breezeway between the house and garage, we installed a steel vertical siding in a contrasting tan color to break up the blue.  Not many companies will install steel siding anymore because it requires a different application process than vinyl siding does and they do not have the proper training; we however, have a couple crews who started installing siding when steel siding was the material of choice.

  • Aluminum to Vinyl Siding

One of the many benefits of replacing siding is that you can completely change the look of your home.  This family chose to remove the outdated yellow and install a more modern ivy colored vinyl siding.  The window and doors, as well as the corner pieces, are finished in white to create a more dramatic look.  This siding is a foam-backed panel that offers more protection from rocks and hail.

  • Foam-Backed Siding

When durability is the main priority with a new siding project a foam-backed siding is the answer.  This family had wood siding that was getting weathered and beaten up by woodpeckers; we replaced the siding with a foam-backed vinyl siding in a Dutchlap style.  The contrasting corner pieces and trims help the color of the siding really pop.  The custom-built flower boxes were wrapped in aluminum to make them maintenance free for the homeowner.

  • Metal Roof

For true durability and longevity, consider a metal roof.  While you may pay more upfront, it will outlive an asphalt shingle.  This family wanted a completely new look for their home.  The entire exterior of the home was covered in a vinyl siding.  The front of the home and garage, and the side of the garage were covered in a vinyl shake.  The deck on the back and side also saw a facelift with replacing the wood with new wolmanized lumber.  The side deck also features a newly constructed roof.  What was once a shed roof is now a dramatic gabled roof with shake siding.  We re-constructed the existing garage to make it a two car garage with a new slope.  The entire home and garage are finished with a forest green metal roof.

  • 14×14 Four Season Room

This room has a truly outdoor feel with the siding being on the interior of the room as well as the exterior.  The homeowner chose this look to keep the feeling of being outdoors.  Using the vertical siding as opposed to the standard horizontal siding allows the room to stand out and give it a unique look.  This room was built using post construction with a cathedral ceiling and trapezoid windows.  All windows and doors in this room are North Star products.  We replaced the existing patio door into the room with a French door to create a more dramatic look.  The tile floor makes the room durable and able to withstand the wear and tear that a pet can cause.  This project took us just over a month to complete.

  • Two-Story Addition

At times the only way to go is up; this family had a smaller lot that they wanted a lot of house built on. This 29×25 two-story addition with a full basement added almost 1,500 additional square feet, not including the 725 square feet of unfinished basement, to the rear of this home. Adding a master suite, family room, and office was the priority of this Okemos family. We began with a poured-wall foundation and did everything from framing to the final paint. Along with new electrical and plumbing in the addition, the house also required a new HVAC system to work with the added square footage, and a new hot water heater to handle the soaker tub we installed in the new master suite. All rooms but the bathroom feature an engineered wood floor that we extended into the existing dining room. All of the doors were custom-stained to match the existing stained wood doors. Painted wood T-111 was installed on the exterior of the addition to match the existing siding as well as matching wood trim. The entire home and garage were re-roofed and two new decks were constructed. The master bathroom was a treat for our crew. With an intricate tile design and a large bathroom filled with it, they thought they would never see the end. With dark cabinets and a light colored Corian vanity top, this bathroom has a rich look to it. Due to battles with the Township, battles with weather, and homeowner delays, this project took approximately four months to complete.

  • Farmhouse with Attached Gazebo

Posted March 20, 2011 By in Deck, Roof, Siding With | No Comments Farmhouse with Attached Gazebo

This farmhouse got a completely new look with new siding, deck, and most importantly a completely new roof structure. This family wanted to have a porch that went around the entire side of the house and wrapped around the front of the house. On the rear of the house we added a gazebo style end. In order to make the roof on the porch work we had to completely re-construct the roof over the lower portion of the home to create a new slope. We then constructed a new porch and roof around the side of the home. The decking is a natural color composite decking material with a white vinyl lattice, and a white vinyl rail system. The porch features a vinyl ceiling panel to give it a farm house bead board look. The roof is covered in an Owens Corning asphalt shingle.

This family had a large lot in Grand Ledge and was looking to make their home more comfortable. We added on to the rear of the home an 18×24 addition, completely removing the old wall, with a fully insulated block basement. In the basement we added an egress window with well, leaving the option to finish the basement adding more square footage. On the main level we framed, insulated, dry walled, painted, extended the HVAC system to the room, and installed all electrical needed. We installed new cork flooring in not only the addition, but also the existing kitchen. The addition features a North Star 15 foot bi-parting door, two awning window, and one large mulled unit with a round top window to complete the look in the gable. All of the windows and doors are our North Star vinyl products with the Canadian Oak interior. On the exterior of the addition we constructed a 6×16 wolmanized deck, installed vinyl siding, and asphalt shingles to match the existing home. This project took approximately two months to complete.
