This three season room in Grand Ledge features some children-friendly windows, which is perfect for the subdivision location. The “glass” in these windows is a pliable vinyl that never cracks or shatters. The vinyl can be stretched to conform to whatever is placing pressure on it, and when released will go back to its normal state. These panels have four sections to them that can slide to give you more options as to how much air to let in. The vinyl comes in different shades as well allowing you to adjust how much light you want to come in. The vinyl sections are fully removable in case you want to turn the room in to a screen room. The aluminum ceiling and trims allow for the room to be exposed to weather without being damaged. The indoor/outdoor carpeting gives the room a cozy feeling without having to worry about leaving windows open. This room is a great middle ground if you can’t decide whether to go with a screen room or a four season room.

Large Picture Window
Posted March 24, 2011 By Katrina in Window With | No CommentsThis family had a lovely view from their three season room but couldn’t enjoy it because they had seal failures in all of their windows. The old windows consisted of all picture windows of the same size. We removed these and went with a new layout. To optimize the view we changed the layout to having one large picture window in the center and a smaller sliding end on each side. This layout created the least amount of obstructions and still allowed for air flow in the room when they were open.

Windows with Internal Grids
Posted By Katrina in Window With | No CommentsThis family was looking to replace their old inefficient windows with new, energy efficient windows, with a classic look. The internal grids are placed between the glass panes to keep them from getting damaged. The family chose to continue their high energy efficiency by going with casement windows as opposed to a double hung or slider. The double casements mulled together lock when closed all of the way creating an airtight seal. The round top window was included in a mulled unit with casements below it as well.

Trapezoid Windows
Posted By Katrina in Window With | No CommentsThis family was looking to update their old trapezoid windows with something more energy efficient. We replaced all of the windows and doors with our North Star vinyl replacement products. We wrapped between the units using an aluminum coil that matches the other trim we custom-wrapped on other portions of the house. These trapezoids are custom-built to the exact size of the old units, which is something that not many companies offer.

Bright Flowing Kitchen

This lake house required some opening up. Facing the lake, the homeowner wanted to be able to have a view while cooking and entertaining friends. Even though the added windows took from the storage of the upper cabinets, we added additional cabinets throughout the kitchen area to make it larger and more open. The Corian countertop created the perfect amount of contrast to all of the bright natural light coming in through the new windows. The cork floor gives a nice natural feeling to the room and brings the outdoors in. We continued the cork flooring into the dining room to join the two rooms. The new pendant lighting lights up the island creating a great ambiance and making the prep work of cooking easier.

20×12 Knotty Pine Four Season Room
Posted By Katrina in Seasonal, Window With | No CommentsThe great thing about a custom-built seasonal room as opposed to pre-fabricated sunrooms is the ability to customize it. This four season room features floor to ceiling North Star windows with triangle windows in the gable wall. The wood laminate floor combined with the knotty pine walls and ceiling gives it a true Michigan feel. This room was built using post construction and is complete with electricity and heat. Fully insulated walls, ceiling, and floor make this room a great spot to enjoy the outdoors even in the winter months. Outside of the room we built a small composite landing with a step. This room was done while the homeowner’s spent the season in Arizona and took us approximately two months to do in conjunction with a new roof on the home.

18 X 24 Family Room
Posted March 20, 2011 By Katrina in Addition, Deck, Door, Siding, Window With | No Comments
This family had a large lot in Grand Ledge and was looking to make their home more comfortable. We added on to the rear of the home an 18×24 addition, completely removing the old wall, with a fully insulated block basement. In the basement we added an egress window with well, leaving the option to finish the basement adding more square footage. On the main level we framed, insulated, dry walled, painted, extended the HVAC system to the room, and installed all electrical needed. We installed new cork flooring in not only the addition, but also the existing kitchen. The addition features a North Star 15 foot bi-parting door, two awning window, and one large mulled unit with a round top window to complete the look in the gable. All of the windows and doors are our North Star vinyl products with the Canadian Oak interior. On the exterior of the addition we constructed a 6×16 wolmanized deck, installed vinyl siding, and asphalt shingles to match the existing home. This project took approximately two months to complete.

Stone Veneer

This unique home recently chose to update it looks both inside and out. On the exterior of the home we removed a brick veneer and replaced it with a man-made stone veneer. The windows above the front entry were replaced with our North Star windows in a Chestnut Brown finish. The two entry doors, both from the ProVia Signet collection, are a fiberglass door with a wood finish. The matching side-lights on the main entry are also of the Signet collection finished in a wood finish. The kitchen features a new Corian Solid-Surface counter-top with accessories like warming bars to set hot pans on, and drain grooves to allow water to drain back into the sink.

Dark Wood Kitchen
Posted March 20, 2000 By Katrina in Kitchen, Window With | No Comments
This family is a long time customer of ours, every year we are called back to re-do another section of the home. The most recent of projects was turning the white out-dated kitchen into this gorgeous masterpiece. The stove nook featured windows in all three walls; we removed the two on the back wall and shifted the side windows to allow for cabinets to go all along the back wall. The entry from one side of the kitchen to the other features a plaster finish to frame in the new kitchen area. The tile mosaic behind the stone makes for a dramatic focal point. The bump-out range hood adds to the dramatic look of the stove area. On the fridge half of kitchen we continued the change by completely opening the wall between the kitchen and dining room and extending the Granite countertop into the room to create a bar area. The homeowner’s decided to go with the off-set design in the tile layout to break up the lines and create a more appealing look.
